SINOSURE Chairman Song Shuguang and Vice President Zhang Hui Attend the Opening Ceremony of FOCAC Beijing Summit
SINOSURE Chairman Song Shuguang and Vice President Zhang Hui attended the opening ceremony of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation on the morning of September 5. They had extensive exchanges with African participants on SINOSURE’s commitment to boosting bilateral economic and trade cooperation and serving the relationship between China and Africa.
SINOSURE Chairman Song Shuguang Meets with UN Under-Secretary-General Gatete
SINOSURE Chairman Song Shuguang met with Mr. Claver Gatete, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) on the afternoon of September 4. Both sides delved into discussion upon jointly promoting cooperation between China and Africa.
Chairman Song briefed the delegation on SINOSURE’s history with Africa in project cooperation and ECA exchange. He applauded the UNECA’s dual role in promoting Africa’s development as both regional body of the United Nations and key player of African governance. While agreeing with Mr. Gatete’s suggestions on promoting the conclusion of a MoU and establishing regular communication mechanism, Chairman Song put forward three proposals of “jointly supporting high-level connectivity, seizing new opportunities of green development, and strengthening technical exchanges and information sharing” when discussing new measures to support cooperation between China and Africa.
Mr. Gatete highly recognized the contributions of SINOSURE in promoting relationship between China and Africa. He highlighted UNECA’s joint efforts with the African Union and its member states to promote the UN 2030 Agenda and the AU Agenda 2063, and SINOSURE’s potential role in meeting massive needs of infrastructure investment for the development of the African Continental Free Trade Area and Africa’s five sub-regions. He suggested that a MoU be signed for future collaboration in risk research, information sharing and project promotion, and that the two parties work together to boost the cooperation between China and Africa in key infrastructure, climate change, and sustainable development, among others.
President Sheng Hetai Meets with Nigerian Minister of Finance
SINOSURE President Sheng Hetai met with Nigerian Minister of Finance Wale Edun on the sideline of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) on September 6.
President Sheng expressed SINOSURE’s willingness to further strengthen collaboration with Nigerian MoF to promote more high-standard and sustainable projects with mutual benefits, especially in infrastructure, new energy and modern agriculture, and to discuss opportunities for RMB financing under sovereign borrowing.
Mr. Edun applauded SINOSURE’s long-term support to Nigeria, and suggested the two parties take the FOCAC as an opportunity to build consensus for more fruitful outcomes. A framework cooperation agreement was signed between SINOSURE and Nigerian MoF in 2018, leading to the success of the Kaduna-Kano Railway project and the NASS solar power storage project.
Vice President Zhang Hui Meets with Côte D’Ivoire’s Vice President
SINOSURE Vice President Zhang Hui met with Côte d’Ivoire’s Vice President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné on the sideline of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) on September 6.
Mr. Zhang reiterated SINOSURE’s commiment to increasing support for Chinese enterprises investing and doing businesses in Côte d’Ivoire, and contributing to the economic development and people’s well-being of the country.
Mr. Koné appreciated SINOSURE’s important role in promoting the bilateral economic and trade cooperation, and suggested more project cooperation with SINOSURE in the future as the economy of Côte d’Ivoire was on the rise.
